CoRe 5G is an Erasmus+ Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) project that aims to build a European skills ecosystem for resilient, secure, and sustainable 5G networks. Bringing together 22 beneficiaries and 8 associated partners across seven European countries, the project creates a strong collaboration between telecommunications operators, vocational education and training (VET) providers, universities, research organisations, SMEs, and industry. Coordinated by OTE – Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation, CoRe 5G addresses Europe's growing demand for highly skilled professionals capable of designing, deploying, operating, and securing next-generation digital infrastructure.
The project develops innovative vocational education and training programmes that combine technical excellence with practical, industry-driven learning. Its activities include the establishment of regional Centres of Vocational Excellence, the creation of Open Innovation Labs, the use of digital twins for hands-on training, and the development of a European Skills Observatory to monitor emerging workforce needs. By embedding cybersecurity, sustainability, and advanced digital technologies throughout its curricula, CoRe 5G equips learners and professionals with future-proof competences while strengthening cooperation between education providers and industry, ultimately supporting Europe's digital transformation and competitiveness.
